Privacy Policy
Last updated
This Privacy Policy explains how AFHCentral LLC (“AFHCentral,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information when you use our services (the “Services”), including when you:
- visit www.afhcentral.com or app.afhcentral.com, or any other website of ours that links to this Privacy Policy;
- download and use the AFHCentral mobile application for iOS or Android; or
- engage with us in other related ways, including sales, support, marketing, or events.
We are responsible for deciding how your personal information is processed. If you do not agree with the policies and practices described here, please do not use the Services. If you have questions or concerns, contact us at hello@afhcentral.com.
Mobile Information and Text Messaging — Our Commitment
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or lease your mobile phone number, SMS opt-in records, or messaging consent to anyone. We never transmit your mobile phone number — in plain text, hashed, or in any other form — to Google, Meta, or any other advertising, analytics, or data-broker platform. See Section 4: SMS and Mobile Messaging Privacy for full details.
1. What Information Do We Collect?
In short: We collect the information you give us, plus limited technical information collected automatically when you use the Services. We do not buy personal information from data brokers.
Information you provide to us
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register for an account, create or claim a listing, contact another user, request information, or otherwise interact with us. Depending on how you use the Services, this may include:
- name;
- email address;
- mobile or other telephone number (optional — see Section 4);
- mailing or business address;
- username and password;
- contact and notification preferences;
- profile, listing, and business information you choose to publish; and
- messages, inquiries, reviews, and other content you submit through the Services.
All personal information you provide must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes.
Sensitive information
We do not ask for, and do not intentionally collect, sensitive personal information such as racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, precise health diagnoses, biometric identifiers, or government identification numbers. Please do not submit this kind of information through free-text fields, listings, or messages.
Payment information
If you purchase a subscription or other paid feature, payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Stripe’s privacy notice is available at https://stripe.com/privacy.
Push notifications
If you use our mobile application, we may ask permission to send push notifications about your account or features you use. You can turn these off at any time in your device settings or in your account notification preferences.
Information collected automatically
When you visit or use the Services, we automatically collect certain technical information. On its own this information does not identify you by name. It includes:
- Log and usage data — diagnostic, usage, and performance data recorded by our servers, such as pages and listings viewed, searches performed, features used, date and time stamps, error reports, and referring URLs.
- Device data — device type, operating system, browser type and settings, language preference, application version, and device or application identifiers.
- Approximate location — a coarse country- or region-level location derived from your network address, used to show relevant listings and to detect fraud. We do not collect precise GPS location from your device unless you explicitly grant that permission, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings.
- Network address — your IP address is used transiently to deliver and secure the Services. For analytics and attribution records we store only a salted SHA-256 hash of the IP address, never the raw address.
- Marketing attribution data — see Section 5.
Information from third parties
We do not purchase personal information from data brokers or list vendors. If you sign in using a third-party identity provider, we receive only the basic profile information necessary to create and authenticate your account.
Google APIs
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
2. How Do We Use Your Information?
In short: We use your information to operate the Services, keep accounts secure, communicate with you, measure our marketing, and comply with the law.
We process your personal information for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account, including registration, sign-in, and account recovery.
- To communicate with you by text message when you have opted in, including sending one-time passcodes, authentication messages, account-security alerts, account and service notifications, customer support communications, and other transactional communications related to your use of AFHCentral. See Section 4.
- To deliver the Services, including publishing listings, running searches, and routing inquiries.
- To enable communication between users, such as inquiries sent to a provider.
- To respond to your questions and provide customer support.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, including bot detection and rate limiting.
- To measure and improve our marketing — understanding which channels and campaigns bring people to AFHCentral, and improving the Services based on aggregate usage trends. Where this relies on advertising or analytics technologies, it is subject to your consent choice as described in Section 6.
- To send you service and marketing communications you have asked for, and which you can opt out of at any time.
- To comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
3. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?
In short: We do not sell your personal information for money. We share limited information with service providers who work on our behalf under contract. Mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, and messaging consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
We do not sell your personal information
AFHCentral does not sell your personal information for money, and has not done so in the preceding twelve (12) months. We do not provide your personal information to data brokers, list vendors, or any third party for that party’s own independent marketing.
Mobile information is not shared for third-party marketing
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent, trade, or lease mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in records, or messaging consent. We may disclose a mobile phone number to service providers acting on our behalf when reasonably necessary to operate AFHCentral or deliver communications you have requested. These service providers are prohibited from using mobile information for their own or any other party’s marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Service providers acting on our behalf
We disclose personal information to vendors who process it solely to provide services to AFHCentral, under a written contract that prohibits them from using it for their own or any other party’s marketing or promotional purposes:
| Service provider | Purpose | Information disclosed |
|---|---|---|
| Auth0 (Okta, Inc.) | Account authentication and sign-in security | Email address, authentication credentials |
| Stripe, Inc. | Payment and subscription processing | Name, email address, payment details (collected directly by Stripe) |
| Twilio Inc. | Delivery of AFHCentral text messages to users who have opted in, including authentication, security alerts, account and service notifications, and customer support communications | Mobile phone number and message content, used only to transmit the message |
| OneSignal, Inc. | Mobile and web push notification delivery | Device push token |
| HighLevel Inc. (GoHighLevel) | Customer relationship management and support | Name, email address, telephone number, notification preferences, account status |
| Cloud hosting and email delivery providers | Operating the Services and sending transactional email | Data necessary to host the Services and deliver the message |
These vendors are service providers or processors. They are not permitted to sell your information, to use it for their own marketing, or to disclose it to anyone else except as required to perform the service or comply with law.
Other users of the Services
Information you choose to publish — such as a public listing, a profile, or a review — is visible to other users and may be indexed by search engines. When you send an inquiry to a provider, the contact details you include are shared with that provider so they can respond.
Advertising and analytics platforms
Subject to your consent choice, we share limited online identifiers (such as cookie identifiers and advertising click identifiers) and, for conversion measurement, an irreversibly hashed version of your email address, with the analytics and advertising providers listed in Section 5. Under California law, this activity may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, and you may opt out at any time as described in Section 6.
Your telephone number is never included. We do not transmit mobile or other telephone numbers — hashed or unhashed — to Google, Meta, or any other advertising or analytics provider, and we never use them for audience building, audience matching, or targeted advertising.
Legal requirements and business transfers
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information where required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.
- Business transfers. We may transfer information in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business. Any successor will remain bound by the mobile-information commitments in this policy, and text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from any such transfer for marketing or promotional purposes.
4. SMS and Mobile Messaging Privacy
In short: Providing a mobile number is optional. If you opt in to SMS messaging, we may use it to send authentication messages, security alerts, account and service notifications, customer support communications, and other transactional communications related to your use of AFHCentral. We do not send marketing, promotional, or advertising text messages. We never sell your mobile information or share it with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
Our messaging program
AFHCentral operates a low-volume text messaging program for users who have opted in to receive SMS communications. Messages may include one-time passcodes and authentication messages, account-security alerts, account and service notifications, notifications related to listings or other activity on the Services, customer support communications, and other transactional communications related to your use of AFHCentral. We do not send marketing, promotional, or advertising text messages.
Consent is voluntary and specific
Providing a mobile phone number is optional. You may create and use an AFHCentral account without one. If you choose to provide a mobile number during registration at app.afhcentral.com/register or in your account settings, you must explicitly opt in to SMS messaging before we send text messages. By opting in, you agree to receive SMS messages from AFHCentral that may include authentication messages, security alerts, account and service notifications, notifications related to listings or other activity on the Services, customer support communications, and other transactional communications related to your use of AFHCentral. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase of any goods or services.
No sharing of mobile information
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent, trade, or lease mobile phone numbers, text messaging originator opt-in data, SMS opt-in records, or messaging consent. Specifically:
- We do not sell, rent, trade, lease, or otherwise provide mobile phone numbers, text messaging originator opt-in data, SMS opt-in records, or messaging consent to any third party or affiliate for that party’s marketing or promotional use.
- We do not transmit mobile phone numbers — in plain text, hashed, or in any derived form — to Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager, Meta, or any other advertising, analytics, measurement, or data-broker platform.
- We do not use mobile phone numbers for audience matching, custom audiences, lookalike audiences, retargeting, or any other advertising purpose.
- Mobile phone numbers may be disclosed only as described in this Privacy Policy, including to service providers acting on our behalf where necessary to operate AFHCentral, maintain user accounts, provide customer support, or deliver requested communications. Such service providers may not use mobile information for their own or any other party’s marketing or promotional purposes.
Messaging service providers
We disclose your mobile phone number to telecommunications carriers and messaging platform providers — currently Twilio Inc. — only to the extent necessary to transmit, route, or support our text messaging program. We may also disclose your mobile phone number to service providers acting on our behalf as described in Section 3. These providers may not use your mobile information for their own or any other party’s marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and messaging consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Messaging disclosures
- Message frequency: Message frequency varies based on your account activity, notification preferences, and interactions with AFHCentral. Messages may include authentication messages, security alerts, account and service notifications, notifications related to listings or other activity on the Services, customer support communications, and other transactional communications related to your use of AFHCentral.
- Cost: Message and data rates may apply. AFHCentral does not charge for text messages; charges from your mobile carrier are your responsibility.
- Opting out: Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving text messages. You will receive a single confirmation, after which no further messages will be sent. Reply START to resubscribe. You can also disable SMS notifications at any time in your account settings.
- Help: Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at hello@afhcentral.com or +1 206-309-6407.
- Carriers: Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Supported carriers: Delivery is supported on major U.S. carriers; availability may vary.
Retention of mobile information
One-time passcodes are stored only as a keyed HMAC digest, never in plain text, and expire within minutes. We retain your mobile number and your opt-in record for as long as your account is active, and we retain the opt-out record for as long as necessary to honor your opt-out request.
5. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Technologies
In short: We use a small number of first-party cookies to run the Services, and — only if you consent — analytics and advertising technologies to measure which marketing channels work. Analytics and advertising are switched off until you consent.
We use cookies and similar technologies (including pixels, tags, software development kits, and local storage) to operate the Services, remember your preferences, keep your account secure, and measure our marketing. This section is complete on its own; our Cookie Policy covers the same technologies in more detail, including individual cookie lifetimes and browser-by-browser instructions.
Where your browser blocks or clears cookies, we mirror the first-party values below in your browser’s local storage so that basic functionality and your consent choice continue to work. Local storage entries use the same names and serve the same purposes as the corresponding cookies, and you can clear them from your browser settings.
Strictly necessary technologies
These are required for the Services to function and are used regardless of your consent choice. They are first-party, are not used for advertising, and are never shared with advertising platforms.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Session and authentication cookies | Keep you signed in and protect against session hijacking and cross-site request forgery | Session, or until sign-out |
afhc_aid |
A randomly generated first-party identifier used to understand which marketing channel brought you to AFHCentral. It is not shared with or sold to anyone, and is not used to track you across other companies’ websites. | 2 years |
afhc_ft, afhc_lt |
Record the first and most recent link that brought you to AFHCentral, so we can measure which channels work. First-party only; not shared with or sold to anyone. | 2 years |
afhc_consent |
Remembers the consent choice you made, so we do not have to ask again on each AFHCentral site | 2 years |
| Google reCAPTCHA v3 | Distinguishes humans from automated abuse on sign-up and other sensitive forms. Provided by Google; collects device and interaction signals for fraud prevention only. | Per Google’s settings |
First-party marketing attribution
When you arrive at the Services from a link, we record a “touch” describing how you got here. This is
stored on our own servers and is used to understand which channels and campaigns are effective. A touch record may
include: campaign parameters in the link (utm_source, utm_medium,
utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term); an advertising click identifier
(such as gclid, fbclid, or msclkid); the referring website; the page you
landed on; your browser user agent; a salted hash of your IP address; a country code; and the consent choice in
effect at the time.
These records are first-party and service-essential. They are not sold, and they are not used to build a profile of you across other companies’ websites. If you create an account, the records are associated with your account so we can understand the path that led to sign-up, and they are deleted when your account is permanently deleted.
Analytics and advertising technologies (consent required)
The technologies below run only after you give consent. Until then they are disabled by default through Google Consent Mode, and no analytics or advertising identifiers are set or transmitted.
| Technology | Provider | What it does and what is shared |
|---|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager | Google LLC | A container that loads the tags below according to your consent choice. It does not itself collect personal information. |
Google Analytics 4_ga, _ga_* |
Google LLC | Measures page views, searches, sign-ups, and other usage so we can improve the Services. Shares a pseudonymous analytics identifier, page and event data, device and browser characteristics, and approximate location. We also send some of these events from our servers so that measurement remains accurate when a browser blocks scripts. Google Signals is not enabled. |
Meta Pixel and Conversions API_fbp, _fbc |
Meta Platforms, Inc. | Measures the effectiveness of advertising on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Shares browser and click identifiers, the event that occurred, and an irreversibly hashed email address for conversion matching. Telephone numbers are never included. |
| Google Ads conversion tracking | Google LLC | Measures which advertisements led to sign-ups and subscriptions, including by uploading offline conversion records keyed to a Google click identifier. Shares the click identifier, the conversion event, and its value. Telephone numbers are never included. |
To the extent these technologies are considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising under applicable United States state privacy laws, you may opt out at any time — see Section 6. You may also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and manage Google advertising personalization at My Ad Center.
Google’s privacy practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy, and Meta’s at facebook.com/privacy/policy.
6. Your Consent Choices and How to Withdraw Them
In short: Analytics and advertising are off until you turn them on, and you can change your mind at any time.
When you first visit the Services, we ask for your consent to analytics and advertising technologies. Until you make a choice, all analytics storage, advertising storage, ad personalization, and ad user data are set to denied, and the technologies in the table above do not run.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time:
- use the consent banner or the “Cookie preferences” control available on our websites;
- clear cookies for
afhcentral.comin your browser, which resets your choice to denied; - set your browser to block or delete cookies (note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in); or
- email hello@afhcentral.com and ask us to record an opt-out for your account.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it, and it does not affect processing based on another lawful basis, such as operating your account or complying with law.
Your consent choice applies to analytics and advertising only. It has no effect on text messaging: SMS messaging is controlled separately in your account settings and by replying STOP, as described in Section 4.
7. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?
In short: We keep your information for as long as you have an account, unless the law requires longer.
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law — for example for tax, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes. In general, no purpose described here requires keeping your personal information for longer than the period during which you maintain an account with us.
When you delete your account, it enters a 30-day restoration window during which you can recover it. After that window, the account is permanently deleted, and the marketing attribution records associated with it are purged at the same time. When we no longer have a legitimate business need to process your information, we delete or anonymize it; where that is not immediately possible — for example because it is held in a backup archive — we isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.
8. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?
In short: We use appropriate technical and organizational safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure.
We maintain technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the personal information we process, including encryption in transit, hashing of authentication credentials and one-time passcodes, salted hashing of IP addresses in analytics records, and access controls limiting staff access to what their role requires. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never defeat our safeguards. You transmit information to the Services at your own risk, and you should access the Services only from a secure environment.
9. Do We Collect Information From Minors?
In short: No. The Services are for adults 18 and over.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit information from, or market to children under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly sell the personal information of minors. By using the Services you represent that you are at least 18, or that you are the parent or guardian of a minor and consent to that minor’s use of the Services. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a user under 18, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable steps to promptly delete that data. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 18, please contact hello@afhcentral.com.
10. What Are Your Privacy Rights?
In short: You can review, update, or delete your account at any time, and opt out of marketing.
Withdrawing consent
Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time as described in Section 6, or by contacting us using the details in Section 15.
Opting out of marketing communications
You can unsubscribe from marketing and promotional email at any time using the unsubscribe link in any such message, or by updating your notification preferences in your account. AFHCentral does not send marketing or promotional text messages. For SMS account and service notifications, reply STOP or disable SMS notifications in your account settings. We may still send you service-related communications through other available channels where necessary to administer your account, respond to your requests, or meet legal obligations.
Reviewing or closing your account
You can review and update your information at any time by signing in and opening your account settings. If you ask us to close your account, we will deactivate and then delete it as described in Section 7. We may retain limited information where necessary to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, or comply with legal requirements.
Cookies
Most browsers accept cookies by default. You can set your browser to refuse or remove cookies; if you do, some features of the Services may not work. See Section 5 for the specific technologies we use.
If you have questions about your privacy rights, email hello@afhcentral.com.
11. Controls for Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control
Most browsers and some mobile operating systems offer a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) setting. No uniform technical standard for recognizing DNT signals has been finalized, and we therefore do not respond to DNT browser signals. California law requires us to disclose this.
We do, however, honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising, and we set your consent state to denied for the browser sending the signal.
12. Do United States Residents Have Specific Privacy Rights?
In short: Residents of many US states have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising.
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information. These rights are not absolute and may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law.

We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age. Using your information for our own internal research and product development is not a “sale.”
As stated throughout this policy, mobile phone numbers, text messaging originator opt-in data, SMS opt-in information, and messaging consent are excluded from every category of sale or sharing for targeted advertising or third-party marketing or promotional purposes.

13. Washington Consumer Health Data
AFHCentral is based in Washington State. Washington’s My Health My Data Act gives Washington residents rights concerning “consumer health data.”
AFHCentral operates a directory of adult family homes and related services. We do not knowingly collect, use, or maintain consumer health data as that term is defined by the Act. We do not ask for diagnoses, treatment, medications, or other health conditions, and we do not use searches or listing views to infer any individual’s health status or need for care. We do not sell consumer health data, and we would not do so without the separate valid authorization the Act requires.
Please do not include health information about yourself or anyone else in listings, reviews, inquiries, or other free-text fields. If you believe health information has been submitted to us, contact hello@afhcentral.com and we will delete it. Washington residents may exercise the rights described in Section 12 with respect to any such data.
